For my walks or bike rides I like to put on a YouTube video, show, podcast or Playlist that plays for a specific amount of time, usually the halfway point so I know when to start heading back home. Then I can keep track of my time per session in a more natural way. I try not to focus on specific numbered 'goals' because the biggest thing is just habituation and adding more little things here and there to increase my endurance or strength. Numbers can provide novelty initially, but can get in the way with perfectionistic thinking for me ~ then I just don't do it bc it's too much OR I hit the goal one day and give up bc I have 'completed' the goal.
Also, I find the best forms of exercise that I stick to is dance videos, walking, and biking. Play around and find out what makes you enjoy it the most. Exercise shouldn't and doesn't have to suck lol.

This reminds me of when I go to the local library on Tuesdays to read a book. If I go there to read it's free and I get to be somewhere other than my own apartment so I'll encounter minimal distractions. I meet nice people that enjoy reading and a peaceful way of spending their evening.
And because I don't take the book home with me, there's no pressure to read it in a certain time frame (which usually makes me not want to read it), I don't have to pay for the service and also no late fee for if I inevitably forget to return it in time.

I have done something similar at work, instead of writing a long list in the morning with all the things I need to do that day, and draining myself mentally by trying to structure the day, I write a list of everything I have done as I do it, and then I use that when i have to register my time on different projects at the end of the week.
It still takes more energy than no list, which is also the reality some weeks, but its definitely better than a to do list!

I use the same while studying✨ Things like pomodoro method never helped because I'm better in the flow for hours (very rare but still) rather than anxiously adjusting to the timer.
So I found a free app where you can make different timers and add them to the main screen. And they are counting up the time I spend on different subjects and later I draw the coloured lines of progress per day in a diary and it feels really nice

Stopwatch versus timer is so real. If I need to spend more time on something, yes, that stopwatch counting up is like a video game achievement or a badge of honor. But even if I need to do something as quick as possible, I set a stopwatch instead of a timer. For example, getting ready for bed. I frequently start skin picking, or dissociating in front of the mirror, or pacing, or whatever else, and a task that takes about five minutes quickly adds up to an hour. But with a stopwatch, I’m so much more conscious of “Nope, we have a thing to do. We don’t want that number going up more than it has to.” And then it’s a game!

I love this hack, turning it into a count up instead of countdown. It relieves pressure that we already feel around the perception of time
