Just watched the original trilogy after having seen the two new ones. I have to say I actually liked the original movie the most. Road warrior felt like a less cool version of fury road, sorry, I saw that first. Beyond thunderdome was mostly boring and to goofy.

Because of my age thunderdome is the one I grew up watching on TV so it's like my default movie

I would argue that Thunderdome couldn't have been Fury Road, at that time. It's a product of its time, just as Fury Road is of its time.
