I was assumed to have a GI disorder and was advised by a cardiologist to seek treatment from the Mayo Clinic as no DR in my area would understand my condition.
I finally found a competent primary care physician who recognized my POTS symptoms and didn’t write me off as a hypochondriac. She legitimately saved my life.

I have suffered with GI issues most of my life. Had many tests done by many doctors and specialists. The results were always the same. Either “there is nothing wrong with you.” or “the results were inconclusive.” I tried different diets and studied nutrition for the last 13 years. I have no college degree but know more than most doctors when it comes to nutrition and gut health. Simply because of studying trying to fix myself when I was miserable constantly and being told there is nothing wrong with me. Now I have a hard time listening to doctors or experts. When educated people think they know everything they will never learn anything new because when new evidence is presented to them they will automatically “know” it’s wrong because they are the expert and it’s not what they believe to be correct. Listen to understand and learn not just to react and respond. You may learn something new that will change how you practice medicine.
