Cleaning is one of the most important parts of being a homemaker, but it's also probably the most tedious.

It's easy to get overwhelmed with all of the tasks that need to get done in order to keep your house looking good and functioning properly. But don't worry! We're here to help you get through it.

1. Maintenance Cleaning Routine

The first step in keeping your house clean is to develop a routine for maintenance cleaning—the regular, day-to-day cleaning that keeps your home looking tidy and fresh.

This includes things like dusting, vacuuming, mopping and sweeping, as well as basic bathroom cleaning and kitchen organization.

A good rule of thumb for maintenance cleaning is to do it every day or every other day.

This way, the task will be quick and easy enough that it won’t feel like a chore, but frequent enough that you can stay on top of dirt and messes before they become too noticeable.

2. Deep Cleaning

Next up is deep cleaning— This is something you should do about once per week or so depending on how dirty your house gets in between maintenance cleanings.

Deep cleaning involves going through all the rooms in your house and tackling their biggest messes: dusting every surface with a damp cloth; vacuuming all carpets; mopping tile or hardwood floors; scrubbing sinks and tubs with soap and hot water; washing windows inside and out; etc.

It’s best to do deep cleaning once per week (though if you have pets or kids who make a lot of messes, you may want to do it more frequently).

3. Organizing and Decluttering

This is an important step when it comes to homemaking because having too much stuff can be overwhelming!

If your home feels cluttered or messy, try organizing everything from kitchen utensils, bathroom cabinets, closets—even garage storage! Organizing means ensuring everything has a place of its own.

Decluttering includes purging old things that no longer serves its purpose. Old toys, books, clothes, appliances etc can be donated, recycled or repurposed.
