Today marks the 20th anniversary of Peppa Pig, the beloved British preschool animated series that first aired on 31 May 2004. Created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker, and produced by Hasbro Entertainment and Karrot Animation, Peppa Pig has captured the hearts of children and families around the world. Over the past 20 years, this kids TV show has been broadcast in over 180 countries, making it a global sensation.

Peppa Pig follows the adventures of Peppa, an anthropomorphic piglet, along with her family and friends, all portrayed as various animals. The show's engaging stories and relatable characters have made it a staple in children's entertainment.

Throughout these two decades, Peppa's voice has been brought to life by several talented performers. Lily Snowden-Fine voiced Peppa in the first season, followed by Cecily Bloom in the second season. Harley Bird took over at just five years old and continued for thirteen years, becoming a beloved voice for Peppa until the end of season six. Currently, Amelie Bea Smith lends her voice to Peppa. Despite Hasbro's decision on 17 November 2022 to sell some of Entertainment One's assets, the Peppa Pig franchise remains under Hasbro's Entertainment division, ensuring the show's continued success.

The show centers around Peppa, her family, and friends, with each episode running about five minutes long. Peppa's circle of friends includes various animal species, reflecting diversity and inclusivity.

Episodes typically showcase everyday activities like playgroup sessions, swimming outings, and visits with relatives and pals. Despite their animal traits, characters lead lives similar to humans, wearing clothes, residing in houses, and driving cars. Notably, Peppa and her family indulge in jumping in muddy puddles, emitting pig-like snorts during conversations.

While the main characters exhibit anthropomorphic traits, others, like Tiddles the tortoise and Polly Parrot, remain true to their animal nature. The narrator, John Sparkes, adds humor and guidance, enhancing the viewing experience.

Peppa Pig celebrates 20 years of being on our screens after first airing on the 31st of May 2004. Peppa Pig will be getting two new characters for the Peppa Pig 20th Anniversary, Mr. Raccoon voiced by Orlando Bloom, and Mrs. Leopard voiced by Peppa Pig fan Katy Perry. We will also see the very first Peppa Pig wedding episode when Mr Bull marries Mrs Cow.

Peppa Pig World opened to the public in April 2011 and was the world’s first Peppa Pig Theme Park, officially known as Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World.
