I really don't think alot of foreigners understand that it was really just a clubbing weapon that was thrown rather than being used in hand to club something. I hope that anyone that has a returning boomerang acknowledges Aboriginal Australians and their ingenuity and also what their boomerang originated from.

The ones that didn't necessarily return but flew in a curved trajectory were good for throwing through a flock of birds without too much of an accurate aim. The curved flight path made it much more likely to clip a bird or two for dinner. In regards to being used as a fighting weapon, I was always taught the Aboriginals lived in peace, noble and happy until white man came... funny that.

My step brother and I used to play with his father's boomerang. Seemed like the edges were sanded sharp.
It cut up our ankles real gooood.
Once I knicked him a little, and he threw it back, slicing my ankle open to the point I needed first aid. Luckily no stitches were needed.
And yes, we were early naughties, Aussie kids. The last of the cool kids.
