I had switched from 5% to 11% and did jump because I got a raise and knew I wanted to invest in retirement instead of increasing my spending with the raise. I got the idea of compound interest with early contribution and hoping this works out and creating another income avenue as back up

oooh thats hard though. I've always been able to only invest $150 a month, and that was years ago with low expenses! Now "low expenses" are not a thing anymore. "just make more money" IK! Easier said than done though.

Not everybody has an income and is in the position they can save anything yet at 25. When I was 25 $425 a month was like saying a million a month.

When I was 25 I could never have afforded to save that, it was basically a third of my income back then!! Now in my mid thirties I’m seeing so much people I know passing away in their early 70s…. Yes save and invest but don’t neglect your dreams for today!!!!

For all the commenters out there throwing out these inflation numbers and I don't have enough money, Ramit is talking about the discipline to set aside a certain amount of money each day/month that you feel comfortable with. Maybe it's not $425, but find a number and stick with it long term by automating it. The most important thing is to take ACTION and not be paralyzed by analysis. You can do it!
