At a certain point you have to realize that not every meal will be perfect from a nutritional perspective.

For everyone in the comments, the study did not say the bananas are bad for you. It just said if mixed directly with a smoothie and left sitting there more than 10 minutes before consuming that it reduced some of the blueberry antioxidant levels. It had no effects that were “bad for you”, just reduced some of the “good for you effects” of the blueberries. The effects were also reduced if you drank the smoothie immediately or if you consumed the banana separately. It’s not saying “don’t eat bananas” or that they cause any disease.

I’ll keep using bananas because they taste good and are healthy. Simple as that.

I swear, this woman would stop breathing if a study told her to

It’s a shame because they taste so good together. Now if I want to optimize I have to separate them. Good info though

You can eat fat for brain health. Bananas also provide healing enzymes for the liver, great source of fiber, and many other benefits. Blueberries are also great, but I would never sacrifice bananas for blueberries with all the benefits of bananas. Maybe just use one for the smoothie and eat the other at a separate meal later.

An important question is, can PPO cross the blood brain barrier. If it cannot you can eat your blueberries before the banana so that the blueberry polyphenols cross the blood brain before PPO can oxidase them.

I just read lemon juice deactivated PPO. So, would it help to use lemon juice when eating avocados and then blueberries to keep the polyphenols? Or maybe safer to eat them on different days? Or do PPOs rid our bodies from all polyphenols that’s been eaten previously?

Eat what your body prompts you to eat cos that's what it wants ❤

If blueberry and banana smoothies are your only source of ployphenols within your diet, you probably have a larger issue than just including bananas in your smoothies. Olives, cocoa (80%+ dark chocolate), all other berries, fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices all have high levels of polyphenols. So, if you're super concerned about your polyphenol intake and you only get them from blueberries within your normal dietary pattern, then maybe exclude bananas from your diet. Otherwise, there is no need to worry about it

Kale and avocado contains PPO as well. Could you please post an update to your smoothie video? Also, about your reasoning/removal of Rainbow Chard from your recipe? A lot of your subscribers are being misled. Myself included.

Bananas are almost the perfect food. If that was all you had to eat on a deserted island you would survive for a long, long time. I try to eat one every single day.

Just eat blueberries. Whats this obession with a smoothie. Also, you'll find hundreds if not thousands of contradictions in food and nutritional science. Hence always stick to a 'balanced' diet.
