7/8 might be the coolest odd time. It's strange enough to keep you on edge while still being super groovy and straight forward

You guys made that sound so natural, it's like "what is that eighth beat even doing, just taking up space? YOU DON'T NEED IT!!"

Step 1: Be Rush. That said, all of those tactics work extremely well too!

7/8 feels so good to groove to, idk why, it feels natural even though it's "wrong" or "chaotic"

Glad to see you guys absolutely kicking ass. You guys are getting good at this. I still remember those covid tour vlogs where you had to bust ass to move equipment, do long road trips, people canceling cause they got sick, etc. And look at you guys now. Repetition legitimizes.

And that's why you see so many rock bands using 7/8, it's such a cool "on the edge" groove. One example that pops into my head is Them Crooked Vultures using 7/8 in "New Fang".

Yes. Using differentiated dynamics is always a good idea.

7/8 is the 4/4 of odd time signatures.

I’ve done 30 years playing bass in pub/ club covers bands. Which has morphed too far into Dad rock these days. You are very much my gateway drug of choice into Jazz. Thanks man.
