Me and my friends have a bi-weekly thing going on where we all agree on a sample, give ourselves 2 hours, and just make the most ridiculous tracks we possibly can. Our skill levels range from beginner to experienced, and it's always a laugh coming to the end of the 2hrs and listening to all our creations. We have them all uploaded on a group SoundCloud account too lol. I use it as an excuse to just try stupid ideas and genres without the pressure of worrying what people think. It's awesome.

He's right, creativity is like any other skill, you can practice it. It's more "use it or lose it" than most skills I think. Keep on working at it and you get better.

the thing with me is, im so used to having ideas that i genuinely cannot pinpoint when i realized i could be making more ideas or what my process actually is for pretty much my entire lifetime. im glad this popped up to help me understand it more cuz others ask me how i have so many ideas and i genuinely struggle with explaining such a passive yet powerful process that i never properly analyzed.

I'm a 70 year old retired funkateer and you still inspire me with your awesome videos. Stay blessed, lil daddy 😊

Only problem I have is that I write too many ideas and can't finish them. I've always had creative ideas, (besides not being able to finish tracks) My mind is booming with them. The problem comes in the execution stage.

Regarding your hearing loss. If you're desperate to try remedies, I'd suggest doing the Lion Diet (extreme form of the keto diet but you only eat beef and electrolytes). Many people have reported ailments completely disappearing after going on the Lion Diet. Things like auto-immune diseases, skin issues, brain issues, etc. Get some LMNT electrolytes to have with the beef and give it a try for a few months. Good luck!

Want ideas or what constant generation is? PRINCE!! He was a hyper creative, meaning the gate never closed. Watch his process and interviews with Susan and others he worked with.

I record my ideas on my phone, mostly also on Flipsampler. Easy and quick. Allready a bunch of sounds, for when I retire.😂.in about 700 workdays I have lots of time

I try to write or record my ideas, asap, because I can think out a song, in its entirety, and if I wait until the end, sometimes I'm missing pieces, from parts that have simply slipped my mind. Always good information, Andrew. Thank you.

When I used to write more often I could tell that my writing got better, and I would look back at my first few songs thinking they were horrible.

love this tip. I write down all my ideas whenever they come to mind and this just encourages me to go tenfold with that concept

It's all about practicing that skill. Rather than only ever writing songs when the idea comes to me, I'm working on deliberately writing songs more often. Also, whenever a good idea does come to me, or I recognise a poetic, stoic, or profound phrase, I write it down in my notes. I have pages of poetic lines, or profound statements that i can put into my songs. Sometimes i see a statement in graffiti that speaks to me, and i write that shit down. My process is all about manipulating my experience, and environment to benefit my art.

Great advice! Just a question... when you write, do you have a specific topic in mind or is it entirely free?

I asked my students to make four silly inventions and say they don’t have to work: they can use magic you’re just the idea person someone else is the engineer. this post reminds me there’s a Brazilian girls song called “Die Gedanken sind frei"
