It creates a preference and a habit of wanting something fast and getting rid of patience

I figured this out about 20 years ago. After struggeling with concenrtation and focus for years, I realized that by playing games and watching DVDs, I was able to focus and concentrate for hours. Meaning, I didnt have a problem with concentration. As I was told. Thinking about this, I realized that it was the Television and the constant interruptions at work. Phone calls and people popping into my office all day long. During a TV program there is a constant bombardment of adverts every so many minutes. Which meant that I would focus, then switch off during the ad break and focus and break and focus and break... the entire program. The other thing was that most programs were 30 or 40 minutes in total. Including ad breaks. Then the next program comes on. Then you have to wait for next weeks episode. I mean, it is a recipe for attention deficit. Now, 20 years later, I can sit for 6-8 hours and play a game. Without losing focus. Eome days even longer. Same with work. I work from home, so I can sit and work from 15:00 - 23:00. No problem. I check my messages. I dont let my messages check me. All in all, I agree 100% with the good Dr. I am living proof.

We are designed to consciously focus on one thing at a time. That’s why active problem solving (writer’s block) is less effective than the passive problem solving in the theta waves (going for a walk, meditating, REM sleep).
