My mother is a red head who grew up in Australia in the 50s and 60s.She was diligent in making sure we kids used the highest SPF available and applied properly. A childhood of no sunscreen led to her having her first malignant melanoma at age 35. I am now aged 50, with the same skin type, and have had a dozen moles precautionarily removed but not a single one has been even pre-cancerous. PLEASE, use sunscreen, especially on your children!

And adding to all that, please, never use a tanning bed. It’s so much stronger than the sun and just one session increases your chance of developing certain skin cancers by up to 30%. Please always use shade or sun screen when out; it’ll keep your skin looking healthy and good till you’re old and gray. If all the skin damage was from the sun anyways…
