Clark Gable actually was really good friends with her and they remained friends till her death. He was pissed when she wasnโt aloud to go to the premiere and refused to go till she told him she wanted him to go

I loved Hattie as Mammy, and Gone With the Wind is one of my very favourite films. She brought an undercurrent of comedy to the part of Mammy. The look on her face when Rhett says, "Are you wearing those petticoats?" And I still hear her telling Scarlet to "Suck in!" when she was putting on her stays. It's a shame that she couldn't go to her own premier in Atlanta and, for the same reason, was not laid to rest where she wished. Unforgivable in those days, unconscionable in these.

Hollywood Memorial Park did her dirty! It was nice of the subsequent owners of the cemetery to ask the family if they still wanted her to be buried there. The family decided the offer but at least the new owners inquired.
Fortunately, Arthur provided us with this history but if you tried to teach it in school, someone might accuse you of CRT or something!

She was also forced to sit by herself at the Oscar ceremony which was held in a segregated establishment. A truly remarkable woman. May her memory be eternal.
