You can choose to feel small because of someone else's greatness, or you can be inspired by it. 


Cristiano Ronaldo feels motivated to push past his limits, set new records and achieve new heights when he compares himself to his competitors - it's a lesson we can all learn from this incredible player. 

Why is it that the rest of us, when we see someone else's greatness, feel so drained and disappointed by it? Because, unlike Ronaldo, we don't see the possibilities. It's not the act of comparison that's the problem; it's what you fixate on as you do it. You can see the possibilities. You can focus on all that this other person can teach you. You can even be grateful to them for raising the bar and for showing you how it's done, or you can be jealous. You can feel exhausted thinking about just how far ahead they're in the game.

It's your perception that actually limits your ability to see and understand. When someone does something incredible, they inspire us. They change the definition of what's impossible, and that is where our focus should go, but if your perception is unhealthy, other people's success will always bother you. In fact, most of what disturbs us simply needs a shift in perception.

Failure is heartbreaking for some; it's a life lesson for others. It can be a breakup or a fresh start. It can be chaos or a world of opportunity. It all comes down to your perception. Choose wisely
