I dunno if this was intentional, but when purple was picking flowers before the main gang showed up, they were blue, possibly symbolizing his father, and at that point, he was still trying to be good enough for King Orange. Now that King Orange and Purple now hang out and Purple has that father like figure in his life, when he picks for flowers, he grabs cherry blossoms, for his mother, to signify that heās no longer worrying about making his father proud anymore.
