I believe they also have the unrealistic expectation of the excitement of the initial infatuation phase lasting forever.

I think many people believe that chaos and drama is normal. Being loved in a genuine and caring manner may appear so foreign because, sadly, they may never had that experience. Thank you, Dr. Grande.❀

Got BPD, old enough not to need a partner any more but it blighted my life and the lives of people I was romantically involved with. Realising I had this, I developed so much self-hate that I stopped dating so I didn't hurt any more people (and myself). Shame it was all too late.

It certainly helps to know what your looking for. Personality disorders seem to leave people blinded in a lot of areas. Thanks Dr. Grande.

Another common BPD trait is black and white thinking, which funnily enough, is what some of these comments sound like. Believe it or not, not all people with BPD share all the same traits and don't need to "be avoided at all costs" like monsters. Take human beings as individuals with their own set of emotional issues, each at different stages in their healing journey. Someone with severe depression or disordered eating might be more challenging to be in a relationship with than someone with BPD.

Good points, yet very sad, esp the sex misconception. Thanks Dr GπŸ˜ŠπŸ’›πŸ’›

As someone with BPD, I can really relate to the whole sex = love part. God that philosophy has caused me so much pain and grief in my life and yet I keep on going back to it.

As I’m currently feeling torn up about my ex with BPD, I just want to say these videos give me a lot better insight into the mind of someone who goes through it. I can’t thank you enough, Dr. Grande! β€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ»

And if you think the traits in this BPD video are rough, you should look up the rest of traits! Dr.Grande did a longer version on BPD, a while back. It’s worth a look. ❀

I have bpd. Rings pretty true, I constantly have to lower my expectations in how I feel or what I want out of relationships, they don't typically last long because even though I don't think I'm chaotic I am to non bpd people, and I'm hyper sexual and do believe that constant release of oxytocin helps keeps someone in a relationship or that's the reasoning my mind came up with.

"they often do not have a healthy understanding of what a healthy, loving, and healthy relationship looks like." Great topic for a video.

Full on BPD (compounded by childhood trauma) right here βœ‹. This is so true. Just took me the better part of my 46 years to get and understand it.

Many would tell you that the problem is their spouse being an angel most of the time but occasionally turns to be the devil himself...

My ex had this. She probably cheated on me, but whatever I found a good woman. She went through multiple men afterwards and did apologize for being not so good. She openly admitted to struggling with this. I hope shes well. But who knows, im bipolar haha. Nobodys perfect!

I was a sex addict until I understood my BPD. I feel a bit ashamed. I just felt so lonely. And it helps me get back into my body with dissociation.
