It doesn't affect your capacity to make your own melatonin. 100%. I've been taking 1mg of melatonin, before bed, for more than 10 years. I have a hard time falling a sleep because, for some reason, my brain doesnāt readily jumpstart the serotonin conversion. I have zero issues since starting the protocol. It doesn't affect anything negatively. It jump-starts my serotonin to melatonin conversion and then my brain takes over once it gets the signal. This protocol has been prescribed to me by a sleep specialist after I have done a sleep clinic. If it did affect my capacity to make my own melatonin I would not be alive now. A brain makes something ovrr 20 mg of melatonin over night. If you're taking too much you will havr bad side-effects because you're flooded. So, take 0.5 to 1 mg before bed and you're going to sleep and make your own melatonin just fine.
