In French, "I missed you" becomes "You have been missed by me."

😂 So accurate in Spanish class once you understand the technical and literal translation of words and phrases 😂

Bro, your impression of a guy speaking Spanish without the accent is impeccable. I took Spanish in high school here in the UK and it absolutely triggered me being the only one who put the accent on when I was speaking Spanish 😂😂

It's similar in Russian too! You can say "Ты мне нравишься!" and it means "I like you" but literally word-for-word means: "You to me are pleasing." Languages are really interesting.

I take Spanish classes online. These shorts have been very helpful for sounding more natural or having a variety of phrases! Thanks!

A TON of people make this mistake, myself included, until I realized I was doing it wrong. It makes you think back to all the times you said it wrong in the past, going around telling people “You like me!” and “I’m pleasing to you”

I feel like a more accurate translation of “me gustas,” that would help students understand the relationship between the subject and object of a sentence, would be “you please me,” rather than “you are pleasing to me.” If you wanted to maintain the sentence structure, as well as the subject and object pronouns, you could tell students it translates word for word as “me please,” with the word “please” being understood in the second-person conjugated form. If you said “tú me gustas,” that would be like saying “you me please.”

Spanish is so confusing for me!! I chat with the “back of house” (kitchen staff) at my work and look like an idiot so often…they tell me English is harder. 😅 I appreciate all the help your videos give me

That's where Manu comes in haha I still catch myself singing: "Me gustan los aviones, me gustas tú" in my heads any time I want to say something "me gusta" haha 😅
