We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who campaigned for a #TurningPointForCancer in the run up to #UKElection2024 – more than 8,000 of you joined the campaign 👏 Together, you asked more than 3,000 parliamentary candidates to champion cancer survival and helped secure commitments from the new government on ensuring the next generation can never legally buy cigarettes, boosting diagnostic capacity to catch more cancers earlier, and a policy programme that commits to less lives lost to the biggest killers such as cancer.
Together, we've put cancer firmly on the political agenda and we’re looking forward to working with the new government to ensure they deliver on the cancer pledges they’ve made.

Many of us spend a lot of time thinking about the foods we eat 🍽 Clearly, not all foods are as nutritious as each other, but it can sometimes be difficult to work out how or why. It seems like everywhere we turn, people are making big claims about which foods are ‘good’ or ‘bad’ for our health. And the phrase on everyone’s lips is ‘ultra-processed foods’.

The term ‘ultra-processed foods’ has been hard to avoid in recent years. So are the foods themselves: in the UK they make up around half of our consumed calories. But what are they? And do they really impact our health?

Find out how our animal friends protect themselves from the sun ☀

Too much ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun can damage the DNA in our skin cells - if this damage builds up over time, it can lead to skin cancer. Sunburn is skin damage too, so getting sunburnt increases the risk of cancer.

Remember! When the sun is strong, seek shade, cover up and use sunscreen with at least SPF30 and 4 or 5 stars  🧴

Lindsay was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2022 after feeling more out of breath than usual and developing a cough that wouldn't go away. Changes that are unusual for you, like unexplained weight loss, a persistent cough or breathlessness, could be signs of lung cancer. Finding cancer early saves lives.
