The Sociability of Sleep is an interdisciplinary research-creation project exploring the epistemologies and equities of sleep. We are a team made up of film and media scholars, artists, and researchers in psychiatry, psychology, and medicine. Our expertise includes the affective and quantified body, cinema and media studies, performance and feminist methodologies, the history and critique of technology, the science of dream engineering, and the treatment of disordered sleep.
Here, supported with a grant from the Canadian New Frontiers in Research Fund, we are exploring together how the arts and humanities can offer new insights on the individual experiences of sleep and the collective care of all sleepers.
