Got questions about Bavaria?

Another episode is getting recorded next week and we're going to dive deep into Bavaria, Germany! This is with a friend of mine and journalist who lives there. So it should be a pretty great episode.

I've incorporated three community questions into my upcoming Japan episode and I'd love to do the same for Bavaria so ask away!

Super sorry for missing most of today's video premiere! Between the new podcast series (and all the extra work that goes into that) and my partner moving in today, time just escaped. 😵‍💫 So if you were there and you missed my polls and banter, I apologize!

But I'll be there next week! 🤠

I hope you all enjoy learning more about the Great Lakes Megaregion!

Got questions about Japan?

I'm recording my fourth episode for the Around The World series on Wednesday and this one will be all about Japan! I'd love to incorporate a few community questions as part of the flow. So... if you have some, drop em in the comments and I'll be sure to ask. Depending on how many I get, I might not be able to get to em all, so please keep that in mind. If I do use yours, I'll give you a shout out!

And in case you haven't watched the first episode yet, the basic format is:

1. Overview of the country
2. Physical Geography
3. History
4. Visitor recommendations

You can ask anything you like, but maybe that's helpful to know?

Let's hear em!

FUN NEWS! I am launching a new podcast and video series called 'Around the World with Geoff' which will live right here on the channel or whatever podcast app you might prefer.

In every episode, I'll tackle a new country, state or province (maybe even a city!) and I'll have a guest who's from there! Together we'll run through a what the country is, it's geography, history, and helpful visitor information ALL from someone who actually knows the place! And interspersed in between? Trivia, jokes, laughs, and fun conversation!

I've already got Kayleigh from ‪@HistoryWithKayleigh‬ to talk to me about the Netherlands, ‪@General.Knowledge‬ to talk Portugal and my buddy ‪@PlateauAstro‬ to talk Quebec, Canada with lots more guests planned that will be announced later.

The videos will live here on the channel and the podcast will be available to listen on YouTube music as well. But you can also listen on a bunch of other apps. So subscribe now if you want to get them on whatever you might listen too!

Ohio! I've always been fascinated by the Buckeye state. For one, its physical geography is more varied than its reputation suggests, but also... it's population distribution is very different from most other states! Ohio's three largest metropolitan regions - Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland - are all roughly equal in size (though admittedly, about 500,000 of Cincinnati metro's population is within Kentucky) which is weird by itself. But also the state has many more metro areas that are also pretty sizeable such as Dayton, Toledo, Akron, Canton and Youngstown. If we look even to Michigan in the north, we don't see nearly the same kind of population distribution. So I dug into why Ohio is so different.

You can check out the video today at 2:00pm PT and I'll be there in the live chat premiere! It's been a couple weeks since I've done this and I missed ya'll. 😀 So come join if you can!

No 60 Second Cities this week 😫 I'm coming off a trip last week and gearing up for another this weekend and, for those that follow the ‪@GeographyPod‬ podcast you'll know that we have an extra special episode coming out tomorrow where we interview Jesse Alexander from the ‪@TheGreatWar‬ YouTube channel all about World War I.

These three things (as well as some super secret content 😉) has kept me from being able to devote enough time to 60 Second Cities. But don't worry! We'll explore Luanda, Angola together next week!

Good morning! Busy week so no live chat premiere, but still the same fun content 🤠

Later today at 2:00pm PT, we're going to dive deep into the Philippines! And more specifically, why this country, more than any other in the world, is the most vulnerable to natural disasters. If you can think of a natural disaster, they probably get hit by it (aside form tornadoes, but I wouldn't even rule that out). We also dive into why south, east and southeast Asia is the most natural disaster prone region of the world! Super fun episode, check it out later today right here: https://youtu.be/c68_Mkizqfg

As a reminder you can get access to these videos a day early and with no ads over on Patreon! www.patreon.com/GeographyByGeoff Check it out and support at whatever level (even free!) you like.

Happy Tuesday!

A different kind of video today. Normally I focus on population and expand on the geography from there, but today I'm focusing on the geography (The Rocky Mountains) and expanding on how its impacted the countries its exists within. And, oh boy did these things make the U.S. (and Canada) seriously powerful. Check it out later today at 2:00pm right here on the channel.

No live chat premiere today. I'm traveling through the weekend and need all the time I can get for next week's content.

Also, if you're a paying subscriber over on Patreon, you got this video ad free YESTERDAY. www.patreon.com/GeographyByGeoff

Help me reach 100 paying subscribers by the end of the month and I'll make a Patreon exclusive mini-episode (3-4 minutes). This is something I've been wanting to explore and having a dedicated Patreon community will help me figure out what works and what doesn't.

Come join me on Patreon!

www.patreon.com/GeographyByGeoff

I've waited over 2 years to start a Patreon page, but I think its time. For one, I want a single place to post all my content. But also I want to be able to give people more access and get some rad benefits at the same time. This will be the place if you want access to that.

But I get it, not everyone wants to join a Patreon page or add a new subscription. To that I say, don't worry! Absolutely nothing will change here on the YouTube channel. Nothing is being moved from here to there and being locked behind a paywall. So if this is all you want and need, you're set!

For those that want a bit more, there's three great tiers for you to join. A free tier that gives you access to some posts by me and giveaways (there's one live now!), there's a SUPPORT tier which gives you a little more, and then an EXTRA tier which gives you ad and sponsor free videos and podcasts, early videos, exclusive content, and much more.

So go check it out!

This will be an evolving project and I'll adapt and change things as needed to make them feel valuable.

Introducing the Geoff x Muir Way map shop!

Some fun news to share with you all this morning (and the first of three channel announcements coming over the next couple weeks), I have teamed up with Muir Way to launch my very own MAP STORE!

This store will start as a place where I can promote specific maps related to videos. But, over time, I plan on introducing original map art that I make and design myself. I don't think many people know this, but prior to launching my own YouTube channel, I used to make maps for fun! So this will be very exciting to carry on in some capacity but without having to deal with all the logistics. Many of you might have already noticed the shop connection on my videos and this community page.

Speaking of which, I specifically chose Muir Way as my partner because they are so highly reviewed, their products so incredibly well printed, and they're not a simple drop shipper. All of their products are made here in the United States. And they have excellent customer service.

To kick things off, you can head over to the website (geoffxmuirway.com/) and use code "DAD15" to get 15% off your order. These things would make a truly fantastic Father's Day gift! The sale won't last long, however, so get those orders in by June 7th!

Check it out: geoffxmuirway.com/
