Sorry for being pretty silent over the last month... I was busy getting married and then was away for a few weeks afterwards! 🎉 But I'm back and here with a relatively short (but hopefully sweet) video for you all! Pixel 8a review will be coming soon, but so far I'm not seeing a massive amount of difference between the 8a and 8, which I suppose is a good thing if you're considering buying one of these phones and want to save yourself some money 😃 Cheers!

So Google's Bard AI has now been rebranded as Gemini and has it's own app for your phone!... Except it doesn't work in any European countries, including the UK 😭 WHY, GOOGLE?!
I've seen some suggestions that they are waiting for the EU's AI act to be finalised, so hopefully this will happen soon and European countries can get access to this. I'm assuming this is basically what they promised Assistant with Bard would be, as you can now activate Gemini features in Google Assistant (obviously only if you are in the US and some countries in Asia, I believe), which should make it way more powerful. I'm super excited to try this - I just hope we won't have to wait ages to get access to it!

I just updated the Pixel 8 system software with the December Feature Drop! Some initial impressions:
- The Clean feature for documents works really well, but you can't seem to use it for any documents that you have scanned elsewhere - the photo needs to be taken on your Pixel, which is a bit annoying in some cases!
- The webcam feature is actually awesome! Seen some weird visual glitches when I'm using it though, so I'll need to do some more testing.
- Portrait Light works well, but I'm not sure how much I will use it to be honest.
Haven't had a chance to try out any of the other features yet, but I'm planning on releasing a podcast episode very soon to discuss this further!

I can easily recommend this phone at $550, and that's a crazy deal considering the Pixel 8 only came out just over a month ago! You're welcome to wait to watch my next video on the Pixel 8 (Review after a month of using the phone; coming in the next week or so), but I wanted to share this with you now in case my video isn't out before the deal goes away. A wee spoiler for anyone who sees this: the battery life has improved since I started using the phone more how I would normally use it, but it's still a one-day phone... but I don't want to completely ruin my next video for you, so I'll leave you with that!
