Good news we think youāll love: weāre going to add a new monthly feature to our regular cycle of goodies, called Brufordās SOLO SPOTLIGHT.
These drum solos - some ancient, some modern - will be taken from different contexts and ensembles, together with any available footage. So thereāll be stand alone solos, solos in duos, solos informed by a pre-existing piece of music, solos informed by no pre-existing music, i.e. from within an improvised piece, solos recorded live, and solos in the studio. Half the time itās hard to believe itās the same drummer. Each solo will have Billās usual insight into its creation in its attaching description.
Things kick off on July 19th 2024 with a solo from Perpetual Change on the 1972 Yessongs album.
You never know, we may ask you your favourites via a poll in due course. Weāll see how it goes. Hope you enjoy them!
