Hello Railways Explained community!

You might have noticed that we've been posting videos less frequently over the past few months. We want to assure you that we haven't given up on the channel or anything like that. In fact, the reason is quite a positive one.

As you may already know, there are three of us running the channel, and all of us have regular 9-to-5 jobs. Additionally, over the last 2.5 years, our team has expanded to include three baby boys. Each of us is in a different life situation. One is deep in the learning curve of changing diapers and baby handling, another is busy preparing baby food, while the third has been watching nothing but Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol on TVβ€”although there was a slight change recently as he managed to watch almost an entire Liverpool vs. Manchester United match. He might have wished he hadn’t since he’s a Liverpool fan and his son has already picked up some colorful language from the experience.

Unfortunately, our current maximum is about 1 to 2 videos per month, so we hope you understand. But fear not, Railways Explained will become great againβ€”once we're out of the diaper phase. We know we have a wonderful community here, and remember, we Never Walk Alone.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding!

Hello Railways Explained community!

We've got some major news in the world of railways, especially for those following the High Speed 2 Mega-Project, or HS2. As many of you know, HS2 was set to revolutionize the UK's rail network with 530 km (330 miles) of high-speed rail network, connecting to the West Midlands, with additional extensions planned to reach Crewe, Manchester, and Leeds in the North. We've got a comprehensive video on our channel breaking down the entire history of HS2 – it's a must-watch if you want to delve deep into the details.

Fast-forward to today, where the spotlight is on UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. In an effort to save Β£36 billion, Sunak has made the decision to cut the Birmingham-to-Manchester high-speed line from the HS2 project.

Railways Explained team believe that these changes will likely be remembered as the "Sunak Cuts" or "Sunak Axe," echoing the historical significance of Richard Beeching and his rail network rationalization proposals during the 1960s, which became known as the "Beeching Axe."

Would you like to see an HS2 Project Update video on our channel? We're talking about covering the latest developments, dissecting the status of the project itself, and of course, sharing our thoughts and insights on this monumental project. Drop your thoughts in the comments section below! We want to hear your opinions, questions, and ideas.
