☝️ CLINICAL TIP: PHARMACOLOGY
🩺It is very important to know how to navigate your medication resource.

➡️ Know what certain terms (classification, indications, etc.) mean.

❗PRO TIP #1: ALL MEDS IN THE SAME CLASS WILL HAVE THE SAME mechanism of action, side effects, nursing considerations etc.

❗PRO TIP #2: There is NO NEED TO MEMORIZE individual medications, rather memorize certain facts about the DRUG CLASS!

☝️ ASSESSMENT TIP!
🩺It is very important to know these alternative sites to take a blood pressure.

➡️ Make sure to ADJUST THE SIZE of the BP cuff to fit the alternative site (for example, if you are taking the BP on the patients' thigh, you will need a bigger cuff).

❗PRO TIP #1: Always find the corresponding artery BEFORE placing the BP cuff on the alternate site.

☝️ ASSESSMENT TIP!
🩺The sphygmomanometer of a manual blood pressure cuff only has lines drawn for EVEN NUMBERS!

➡️ Unless you have superhuman vision, DO NOT RECORD ODD NUMBERS.

☝️ ASSESSMENT TIP!
🩺It is very important to know what are considered normal and abnormal blood pressure readings.

➡️ Ideally EVERYONE will be in the normal category, but certain things can make patients' blood pressure reading abnormal.

❗PRO TIP #1: If you get an abnormal reading and the patient looks and feels fine, try again.

❗PRO TIP #2: A manual blood pressure reading is ALWAYS better than an automated one, given that you have mastered the skill.
