Message from Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji on Internation Yoga Day (June 21)

Loving and divine souls,

Let the choicest blessings of God and the masters be upon all of you. I take this opportunity to pray for you, and I send my best wishes on the occasion of International Yoga Day, which falls on 21 June. It is the most popular celebration globally, and people transcend all boundaries of religion, nation, language, and culture to participate in this event.

All division is human, and all union is divine. We humans divide the earth into different territories. But a truly spiritual person sees no divisions, considers the earth as one, and knows that the entire creation is the creation of God. We are all the children of one God.

Let us understand a few meanings of the word “yoga.” Yoga is harmony. Yoga is union and unity. Yoga is discipline. Yoga is the art of expressing love. Yoga is the practice of promoting human values and divine qualities. Yoga is integration. Yoga is a practice of flexibility and adaptability. Yoga is the art of happy and healthy living by following the path of perfection. Yoga is realization.

When we practice yoga, we might begin with simple exercises, breathing techniques, and relaxation. We must keep all these meanings in our minds and try to live like a yogi.
Yoga is practiced. In the Bhagavad Gita (6:17), the Lord taught Arjuna,

yuktāhāra-vihārasya yukta-ceṣṭasya karmasu
yukta-svapnāvabodhasya yogo bhavati duḥkhahā

“For a person who is moderate in food and recreation, who is restrained in actions, whose sleep and waking are regulated, there ensues discipline (yoga), which destroys all sorrows.”

The first step taught by the Lord is yuktahara (yukta + ahara), which is temperate or moderate food intake. But it has much deeper meanings.

Yukta has many meanings, but in this case it means “appropriate,” “in moderation,” and “in the state of union.” Ahara is that which we receive; it can be food for the body or for the sense organs and the mind. Thus, the food for the body, the sense organs, and the mind should be good, appropriate or proper, health giving, and should be taken in moderation with prayer, or in the state of union. This is the way to live a healthy and happy life free from suffering and sorrow.

The entire creation is suffering with sorrows, sickness, and even fear because of COVID. The real cause is our inappropriate food. However, we should all practice yoga in letter and spirit to be healthy and happy.

On this International Day of Yoga I humbly request all to live with discipline and be yogis so we can say goodbye to suffering. I also humbly offer my adoration to all the great yogis on this special day.

With Love,
Prajnanananda

Dear Divine Ones - The image of our organizational details did not come out well in the last post, because of how YouTube renders images that are rectangular. Here is a better image. Humble pranams

A NEW NAME AND A SECOND CHANNEL

Dear divine viewers - our humble pranams to you.

We are making two changes to our channel.

A COUPLE OF CHANGES TO OUR CHANNEL

1. The name of the current channel is being changed to "Kriya Yoga Masters of Kriya Yoga International"
2. Adding a second channel that you can subscribe to, named "Spiritual Programs of Kriya Yoga International"

The links to these channels are below
www.youtube.com/channel/UCQnZ...and
www.youtube.com/channel/UCLo1...
This post shares more about these changes.

A BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THIS UNBROKEN LINEAGE OF KRIYA YOGA MASTERS

Kriya Yoga International Organizations (http://www.kriya.org) represents an authentic and unbroken lineage of Kriya Yoga Masters starting with Babaji Maharaj and including such spiritual giants as Yogiraj Shri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahashaya, Swami Shriyukteshwar Giri, Shri Bhupendranath Sanyal Mahashaya, Paramahamsa Yogananda the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, Swami Satyananda Giri, Paramahamsa Hariharananda and Paramahamsa Prajnanananda. Paramahamsa Hariharananda, known to his disciples as "Gurudev", started these organizations. He was initiated by Swami Shriyukteshwarji in 1932, and in the 10 years from 1935 to 1945 he learned all of the other higher Kriya Techniques from three other Kriya Yoga Gurus - Paramahamsa Yoganandaji, Swami Satyanandaji, and Shri Sanyal Mahasaya. In 1948 he attained Nirvikalpa Samadhi, the highest attainment for a yogi. Mahavatar Babaji, pleased with this progress in his sadhana, had appeared before Gurudev Hariharanandaji in 1949, blessed him and prophesized that his mission would be to spread the message of the Kriya Yoga Masters to the East and the West. Paramahamsa Yoganandaji himself authorized Gurudev Hariharanandaji to initiate in 1951. Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji started his mission in the West in 1974. Till his mahasamadhi in the year 2002 at the age of 95, Gurudev Hariharanandaji traveled all across India, North and South America and Europe spreading the message of Kriya Yoga Masters and initiating countless seekers to the path of Kriya Yoga. He deeply revered his four Gurus and also gifted us his spiritual successor Paramahamsa Prajnanananda who is the current realized master continuing this exalted unbroken lineage. Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji now travels world over teaching Kriya Yoga and how to practice spirituality in daily life. His teachings cover a broad expanse of spiritual topics that include yoga, meditation, practical spirituality, and also deep metaphorical interpretation of Vedanta and many scriptures like the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali, Durga Saptashati, different Upanishads. Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji is known to his disciples as "Guruji".

OUR MAIN CHANNEL WILL BRING YOU MESSAGES OF THE KRIYA YOGA MASTERS

Our first channel "Kriya Yoga Masters" will be dedicated exclusively to bringing to you videos of Gurudev and Guruji, Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji and Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji. Here you will find their messages, discourses, scriptural teachings, questions and answers, as well as event celebrating their life and legacy. We will post videos daily on this channel.

These organizations run and maintain several ashrams. In India there is Hariharananda Gurukulam at Balighai, near Puri and several other ashrams. In USA, there are four ashrams - Kriya Yoga Institute in Homestead, Florida, Temple of Harmony in Joliet, Illinois, Tempe of Peace in Lakewood, Colorado, and Temple of Compassion in Brenham, Texas. In addition, there is the Temple of Divine Love in Sao Paulo Brazil. In Europe there are two ashrams in Tattendorf, near Vienna in Austria and in Sterksel, near Amsterdam in The Netherlands. In Australia the ashram Kriya Yoga Vidya Mandir is in Lisarow NSW, near Sydney. In these ashrams and regions there are more than one hundred monastics and more than forty Yogacharyas (household teachers) who serve the mission of the Masters. These ashrams conduct several spiritual programs throughout the year.

THE CHANNEL WILL BRING YOU PROGRAMS FROM OUR ASHRAMS

Odia Videos Have Subtitles in English

Dear all - pranams. You may have noticed, we are now uploading Guruji's videos in Odia language too. The video uploaded today is one such video. Our plan is to upload two such videos on most weeks. To ensure that all can enjoy these videos, we have their English subtitles uploaded at the same time. Please turn on the Subtitles for these videos. The image below shows how to do this on a desktop or laptop computer. Find the "gear" icon at the bottom of the screen, click on it, and click the Subtitles/CC option to select English Subtitles. On a phone, tap on the video and then select the "three vertical dots" icon at the top-right of the screen - you will find the Subtitles option there. Please leave a comment here if you need further help. We hope you are enjoying the daily videos on this channel.

(We are adding English Subtitles to English language videos also, but they are added later. You can check out the section with Portuguese subtitles, they have English subtitles too).

Please Submit Questions for Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji

Dear loving viewers - humble pranams.

We sincerely hope all of you are enjoying the videos posted on this channel. The Masters of Kriya Yoga International are God-realized yogis. The vignettes, discourses and answers to questions are hopefully creating a spiritual environment of love, compassion, and teachings that we can incorporate into our daily lives.

An unique opportunity on this channel is for viewers to submit questions that are then posed to Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji. His answers are then posted back to the "Q&A with the Masters" section of the channel. So far, viewers on the channel have asked more than thirty questions and we have posted back the answers (a few will be posted in the coming couple of weeks).

We now invite you to submit more questions as comments on this post.

Let your questions be like those of Arjuna's to Lord Krishna. On topics and situations that are really confusing to sincere spiritual seekers, that need guidance and suggestion from a teacher who has realized the ultimate truth. Think of situations that come in the way of you living a positive, loving and purposeful life embracing all your roles. Think of questions that not only help you, but will help countless others in similar situation. Ask those questions, but do frame them to be clear and precise.

We will review and ask your questions to Guruji in his upcoming programs in the month of September and October 2019. We will post back the answers on this channel.

Many of our sincere viewers may also have ideas on how to broaden the reach of this channel and be willing to go an extra mile to recommend this channel to family, friends, and community members. Please write to us at "channel at kriya.org" if you are willing to help out and we can take your ideas and suggestions for an offline discussion.

Looking forward to a new batch of questions in the comments of this post, and looking forward to hearing from you at our email address.

May the blessings of God and Gurus be with all.

Results of Poll on Video Posting Frequency - "7 videos per week" Gets the Top Vote!

Humble greetings to all!

Thank you for participating in the poll to establish how many videos we should post each week.

237 of you responded to the poll and two-thirds of you have voted for a video each day! Please see the image below with the voting results.

We will continue to post a video each day. It is reassuring to know that most of you want it that way too.

Several of you left additional comments on the poll. A common request is for posting posting full length talks, specially from discourses on the Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutras. Please note that this channel will continue to be for short video vignettes, though we will at times post full length talks from Guruji's programs and retreats. The full length talks on Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita will be available at learn.kriya.org/ and requires a subscription.

We appreciate your love and interest in the messages of the Masters!

May God and Gurus bless us all.

How my videos (in English) would you like us to post each week?

Dear viewers and subscribers - humble pranams!

Our channel is now six months "young"! We appreciate all of you who have subscribed, and all of you who take the time to watch, like, and leave comments behind. We currently have 3260 subscribers, and we get about 1000 views each day.

Our goal was to bring the messages of our beloved masters to you as a "daily satsang". At the same time, we understand that it may not always be possible for you to watch a new video each day, and you may be falling behind.

With this poll, we would like to get your feedback on the number of videos in English you'd prefer we post per week. Please see the choices below. (Note: we will continue to add subtitles to videos and post videos in other languages as we are doing now)

The poll will close in one week, on May 31 2019

Introducing Videos with Subtitles in Español (which also include subtitles in English and Portuguese)

Dear all - humble pranams

There has been a long standing request from our Spanish-speaking viewers to include sub titles in Español . We are finally able to address this request! We appreciate the service of our loving Kriyavans in Colombia and Brasil for taking this project on. The Playlist below now has videos with subtitles in Español. (Please note that these videos actually have subtitles in three languages - English, Portuguese, and Español). As the teams add subtitles to more videos, we will keep appending those to the playlist.

Please share the post or URL with your friends in Spanish speaking countries and request them to subscribe to the channel as well.

Cyclone Fani Causes Great Devastation

Cyclone Fani slammed into the Northeast Coast of India, at the city of Puri in Odisha, on Friday (May 3 2019) morning at 8:00 am local time. Cyclone Fani, equivalent to a category 4 hurricane (with winds up to 250 km/hr (155 mph)), is the strongest cyclone to hit the region in 20 years.

The storm has caused great devastation to Odisha and also to the ashrams of Kriya Yoga International there. While all of the ashram residents are safe and there have only been some minor injuries to the cattle, the ashram properties themselves have suffered huge damage. This video captures some of the devastation.

The damage to the Ashrams is being estimated to be no less than USD 250,000 (Two hundred and fifty thousand). Please consider making a donation to fund relief work that will be carried out by volunteers in Puri. Prajnana Mission is spearheading the relief work and is also hiring people to help with the effort.

Please visit www.kriya.org/donate/en to make a donation.
(Citizens of India can donate at www.prajnanamission.org/donation-india.php)
We appreciate your attention to this catastrophic event and your kind help.
