Friends, it was a delight to join Bishop Paprocki, canon lawyer and great teacher of the faith, on the Dive Deep Podcast. We were interviewed by Andrew Hansen on the sacrament of marriage, faith and science, the culture, and other deeply important topics facing the Church today.

Friends, I recently visited the Saint Paul Seminary to speak with the seminarians there about Scripture and the priesthood. Please join me in praying for our seminarians and priests!

Friends, while in Rome, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Rev. Jim Baron for a Q&A at the North American College. The NAC is very near and dear to me, and I was happy to speak with the young seminarians there.

Friends, freedom is important to us, but freedom has to be joined to truth and responsibility. This was the theme for my recent keynote at the ARC forum. I invite you to watch the talk here, and to take some time to reflect on the true nature of freedom:

Friends, World Youth Day is one of Pope John Paul II’s greatest gifts to the Catholic Church, and it was a joy to attend World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon.

Friends, many of you have alerted me to fake Bishop Barron accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media. It's very alarming and disheartening, especially when some of these fake accounts have been soliciting money from unsuspecting friends.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) Always look for the blue or gray check mark next to my name. Just tap the name and look for the check mark. That's the best way to ensure you're dealing with my legitimate account, and not an imposter. My accounts are verified across all social media platforms so they each have the check mark.
2) I never send friend requests, follow people online, or exchange private messages on social media. This is another tip-off you're dealing with a fake account. If you encounter any of these activities, the account is certainly fraudulent.
3) I will never privately ask you for money. If someone sends you a private message, asking for a donation, it's undoubtedly a fake account.

One final request: whenever you come across these fake accounts, please report them immediately to the social media service. It's the best and quickest way to remove them, and it will make sure they don't take advantage of anyone else.

Please keep praying for me, and God bless you!

Friends, today marks the beginning of a new initiative at Word on Fire we're calling "Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermons." These weekly videos will not replace my normal Sunday homilies on the Mass readings, which will continue, but will instead feature preaching aimed at the unaffiliated and won't necessarily be tied to the liturgical calendar. The sermons will air every Sunday morning at 8:15am ET on my YouTube channel. We hope this new offering enhances the spiritual lives of Word on Fire‘s regular viewers while sharing the Good News of Christ and his Church with millions of unaffiliated spiritual seekers, all those struggling with a restless heart.

In this first Sunday Sermon, I preach on the God who is love, explaining why this massively important fact leads to the conclusion that God is trinitarian in nature. Watch here:

Friends, I encourage you to watch this excellent 25-minute video on "Outreach to the Unaffiliated." It was produced by the ‪@UsccbOrg‬ Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis, for which I'm honored to serve as the chairman.

In the video, you'll hear from expert evangelists and sociologists, as well as young people who don't affiliate with any religion.

I'm convinced that outreach to the "nones" remains the most pressing evangelical task of our time, so I hope this video sparks new conversations, insights, and ultimately hope around this important task.

Our USSCB Committee has also created a helpful discussion guide, which you can download at the page below. You might go through it with others in your parish or diocese as you consider how best to reach the "unaffiliated" in your own context.
