Traveled to a remote village in Northern Thailand near the Laos border for the past couple of days. Stopped by a khanom jeen (rice noodle) restaurant for lunch and noticed photos of a Green Beret (Special Forces) Officer (retired Colonel) hung up all over the restaurant.

Turns out, he’s the shop owner’s son-in-law who met her daughter at a Thai Temple in Florida…. spoke quite highly of him too. He built them a house and helped fund the families auto repair shop (because it’s his father-in-law’s dream to own one)

Moments like these makes me miss the military because of all the honorable men I served with.

But once you’re out of the service and on the outside, there’s not so much….

So I was driving with my girlfriend coming back from the Islands and decided to make a quick stop to Pattaya to grab dinner over on Pratumnak Soi 5 (which no longer has its semi-residential beach charm with all the new bars and weed shops that have since emerged)

We sat down for dinner and I noticed that the Thai service staff didn’t seem too friendly and lacked hospitality, which was quite unusual for Thai standards. So we finished dinner and left back for Bangkok.

On the drive back, my girlfriend made an interesting statement… “Pattaya Thai’s have lost their sense of being Thai due to always being on survival mode”

I asked her, “What do you mean by that?”

She said that whether they’re coming from other Provinces like Isan or are native born from Pattaya to work in service industries and hospitality, they originally come in with the best of intentions/optimism/Thai hospitality to make a living for themselves and their families. But since Pattaya doesn’t exactly have the best reputation of attracting the best and brightest expats, foreigners, and tourists due to it’s significant lower cost of living (nicer way of saying they’re fat, poor, zero etiquette/manners)

Pattaya Thai’s have to deal with these kinds of people year after year, because their initial kindness is usually taken advantage of by these degenerates, therefore, human instinct naturally has them to harden their resolve and be on survival/defensive mode in order to prevent them from being taking advantage of. Survival takes precedence over hospitality because their livelihood depends on it. They’re stuck with this current cycle due to few economic opportunities/lack of education and must endure in order to survive.

In a way, it’s somewhat of a sad melancholy feeling. You do your best to treat them well with kindness and respect and give them an extra tip and wish them well as you know they’ll have to get back into the trenches of the BS.

Will this continue to get worse? Absolutely.

Apparently Pattaya wasn’t like this 30 - 40 years ago, would have love to see how it was back then.

Bittersweet.

Happy Songkran everyone! 🔫💦🇹🇭

Best way to celebrate the Thai New Year (besides water fights of course) is to take care of the Thai’s that have taken care of you.

And the best way to do that… Ngeen (Money in Thai 💸💰)

Your condo staff, your security guards, your dry cleaning lady, extra tip to your Grab driver/service staff… whoever

Important reminder to always give back to those that have taken care of you during this new year 🇹🇭💰

After completing this 72 hour fast, I had my post fast meal at this wonderful intimate place inside the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel next to BTS Chitlom.

Needless to say, it’s one of the best steaks I’ve ever had in Bangkok (if you lived here long enough, finding quality red meat here is a challenge)

Enjoy 🥩

I’m currently 65 hours into a 72 hour fast, consuming only black coffee (no milk/sugar), water, singha soda water, and zero calorie electrolytes.

Doing this fast to clear out fat loss as well as having my body rid of toxins and cancer cells (takes place after the first 24 hours of fast)

Between 24 hours and 32 hours I was absolutely f*ckjng miserable, moody, and suffered, but after that window, your body starts adapting. My gym workouts were also complete ass due to lack of energy but f*ck it the show must go on.

It was recommended to me by my good friend and therefore, I’m recommended it to you guys as well as we get older and need to maintain great health.

Looking forward to a nice juicy steak once this is all over 🥩

I just want to wish everyone an early 2024 Happy New Years!

My Chinese Uncle ass is staying right at home to celebrate with loved ones, away from the crowds and overpriced NYE events. 👴🏼🛌

Hope everyone continues to make long term goals (not just 2024 goals) to continuously improve on health, finances, lifestyle, and most importantly, relationships!

Be safe and take care everyone, love you all! 🥳🍾🙌🏼🎊🎉

Bangkok is a food paradise, easily one of my favorite places to eat, but as my years progress and I get older and older as a Chinese Uncle… I can’t exactly overindulge with my favorite Korean BBQ, Southern Thai Food, Japanese Yakiniku, and Italian Fine Dining Restaurants like my fat ass is used to due to rising cholesterol and high blood pressure (f*** u 😭😭)

To myself and my primarily middle age audience (aka old people), we need to adapt and start eating healthier

If you’re ever at EmQuartier Mall in Phrom Pong, swing by Lemon Farm next to the ground level food court

Package meals such as this grilled chicken breast with salad and quinoa rice will run you only 125 baht (damn good food too)

Let’s stay healthy together and not end up becoming a beer drinking Pattaya degenerate 🤙🏼💪🏼
