2023 was one of the hardest years of my life.

One of my main goals was to launch my film academy and return to creating YouTube videos. However, a few months into the year, I had to realize once again that this project would require much more time than I expected.

So, long story short, I spent the majority of the year scripting, filming, and feedbacking lessons for my academy while often working 55-60 hours per week. Obviously, there were some great moments in between, but overall, my year was dictated by monotony and stress.

I faced bigger challenges than ever before, and if I‘m being honest, they almost crushed me. I was in a dark mental state for many months, and it took me everything I had to get out of it. While during this painful period, I only wanted it to end, I now realize how it further shaped me into the person I want to be. It made me more mature, resilient and composed.

Many people don’t understand my dedication to this project: „Why would you work on a course instead of creating YouTube videos for a channel with 1M subscribers?“ The answer is simple: I believe that my sacrifices are worth the outcome.

Trust me, not creating YouTube videos for the community I love is a bitter pill I have to swallow every single day. But my strong vision for a new generation of storytellers and filmmakers is what keeps me swallowing that pill. I don‘t only want to tell life-changing stories myself, but I want to equip thousands of others with the right skills to do the same. I know that there is still a lot of work to do, but my team and I won‘t stop until we get there.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say sorry to anybody who misses my videos, and I want to say thank you to anybody who supports me in whatever I do.

I know that in some way I let this community down, but I want you to know that I do everything I do is to help each of you get closer to your dreams. One day, I will be back on YouTube, but until then, you have to keep pushing forward without me!

I wish all of you an amazing start to the new year, and I hope that you make 2024 your best one yet! ❤️

New Video tomorrow, February 9th at 4:00 PM CET 🎬

The last 7 months of my life have been the most mentally and physically draining period of my life. Ever since I started working on my online course about Storytelling & Filmmaking, I had to face countless challenges that slowly started to take a hit on my health. I started to build a team, I scripted and shot lessons for weeks at a time, and a few months into the project, I had a severe motorbike accident that held me back from having any balance in my life. The expectations from my community, sponsors, and myself added a lot of additional stress onto my existing struggles, which lead to a point where I had serious anxiety and I couldn't properly sleep or work.

I'm happy to say that I finally got out of this dark period of my life and I am back on track - both physically and mentally. Unfortunately, the new Youtube video is not my comeback, but it is an update on what happened in the last 7 months and where I am with the course development. It will still take the team and me many months to complete the course, and I won't be back to posting Youtube videos before it is done. The course is going to be a learning experience that has never been created before, and I can assure you that it is going to be worth the wait.

I've always been transparent with you guys by sharing the highs as well as the lows, and that's why I wanted to also share this challenging phase of my life with the intention to hopefully help you navigate along a similar journey without facing the same struggles.

Thanks to every single one of you who patiently waits for me to finish the course and return to Youtube. I can't tell you how much that means to me. See you in the video tomorrow! 💛

Here’s an update on the development of my online course.

As I had come to learn, I massively underestimated the scale of this project. While I initially planned for a timeframe of 3 months to create the course, it now looks like it is going to be much closer to around 10 months. I had to develop my skills as a teacher, my team members had to get used to my style of editing and I needed to establish new structures in order to create an efficient workflow - and that takes time. I feel like we are finally at a point where all processes are running smoothly and from now on it is all about putting in the time and tackling one module after another.

As you know from my Youtube videos, I am someone who doesn’t do things half-heartedly, but I pursue my projects with my full energy and attention - and it is the same with my online course. I genuinely believe that storytelling & filmmaking are the most powerful skills to possess in the 21st century and that’s why my goal is to create the best possible learning experience to teach those skills to more people out there.

Just to drop some numbers, in the last three months I scripted more than 210.000 words which equals a 700 pages book. We edited more than 7 hours of finished lessons and created more than 150 custom animations in order to visualize the concepts I teach - and we are only at module 3 out of 9. I want to cover things in their entirety and I want to deliver you the same quality that my Youtube videos are known for.

In those last 3 months, I have seen extreme growth in my abilities as a teacher, storyteller, and entrepreneur. I learned to communicate the complex systems and principles of storytelling in the most simple ways and I learned what it means to motivate a team to pursue something bigger than I’ve ever created before. It’s still a long way to go, but I am convinced that in the end, our hard work is going to be all worth it.

This ultimately also means that my break from Youtube is going to be longer than initially expected. I can‘t put an exact date on it, but from what it looks like right now, I won‘t be back to creating videos before the end of March.

I hope you guys understand that good things take time and appreciate your patience to stick through with me! 🫶🏽

Where should I start…

Around 3 weeks ago I had a severe motorbike accident where I slid under a truck, but luckily I got away with some minor wounds and mild fractures in my ankle and my wrist. To be honest, I still can’t comprehend how I got off so lightly and I am extremely grateful to be healthy and alive.

In the week after my crash, my visa was about to expire and therefore I had to leave the country even though I couldn’t properly walk - even with crutches. But as there was no other choice, I hopped in a wheelchair, flew to Singapore for a weekend and tried to make the most of it. Back in Bali, I spent the last weeks working on the course while barely being able to leave the house.

This journey gave me a true wakeup call of how fragile life can be and how important it is to maintain a strong mindset in the low periods of your life.

After a month of recovery and distractions, I feel like I am finally back at 100% and tomorrow my casts are going to be removed. You can’t believe how excited I am about my first walk and my first proper shower in a month. I guess the bad times really make you appreciate the small things haha 😂

Thank you guys so much for 800K subs and most of all thank you for being patient. 💛

I am going to give you an update on the online course very soon.

I shot the first lesson of my course! 🎬
It definitely took me some time to go from scripting stories to scripting lessons about storytelling. Storytelling is such an intuitive skill and it took me quite some time to package my knowledge into easy systems that everybody can understand.

Felt really good to push through the resistance and talk in front of a camera again. Stay tuned for more updates! 🙌🏽
