Do you love StarCraft II?
The heart of the competitive scene is the Global StarCraft League (GSL) in Korea, and right now it's fighting for its future. Blizzard has started to distance itself from the community, and is drastically cutting funding for tournaments.
The GSL is asking for our help to support this amazing league. If you love StarCraft and you're able to contribute, consider becoming one of their patrons:

Please help spread the message to keep the GSL alive for another 100 years! :)

I just posted a new video essay on my other channel. It's a full spoiler critique of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, kind of in the same vein as my Final Fantasy retrospectives. Check it out if you're interested!

Posting this here for those who may not have seen my announcement video:
First of all, I wanna say a huge āthank youā to everyone whoās had my back so far. Itās a lonely life out there for a small YouTuber, and Iām incredibly grateful for all the love and support Iāve gotten these past two years. That said, the reason Iām making this announcement is that Iāve decided I have to make a change. Itās not an easy decision, but I think it is necessary.
Itās been about two years since I started making videos again, and in that time, my contentās been split into two very distinct topics. Thereās my StarCraft guides, and then thereās everything else.
Right now, Iām closing in on nine thousand subscribers, which is kind of insane when I think about it. And while to an outside observer it might seem like my channel is growing at a pretty steady pace, those numbers hide a pretty big problem.
You might have noticed itās been quite a while since I put out any new StarCraft content, and you might be wondering why. The brutal reality is that for the last year or so, due to the circumstances of my life, I havenāt been able to play much StarCraft, or even really keep up with the scene. Keeping my game knowledge up to date to the point where I feel confident teaching other people requires a lot of time and effort. And lately, I just havenāt been able to give that.
At the same time, when I started making videos back in 2020, it was never my intention to focus on a single game. And after experimenting with a bunch of different types of content, I now know what my core content is: Video essays like retrospectives, in-depth critiques, and the occasional review. Thereās a ton of games from the past Iād love to revisit, and a lot of newer games that would be a lot of fun to explore together with my community!
The surprise success of my StarCraft guides is something Iām very proud of, but it also puts me in an awkward spot. More than 75% of my viewers and subscribers are here for the StarCraft stuff, and theyāre not really interested in my other content. And the way YouTube promotes content to viewers really punishes channels that donāt have a strong focus, so Iām fighting an uphill battle.
For a long time now, Iāve been feeling really stuck and unable to move forward with my channel. But after agonizing over the issue for more than a year, Iāve finally decided what to do.
Iām splitting my channel in two.
What it means is that Iāve created a second channel. The new channel will be called Altercate TV, and itās going to be the home for my retrospectives, reviews, and critiques. The old channel (this one) will be rebranded as Altercate SC, and thatās where youāll find all of my StarCraft content.
I know Iāll probably lose a lot of subscribers from this, and honestly, it kind of does feel like starting over from nothing. But this is something I have to do for my own sanity.
The split lets me focus my attention on my core content in a separate channel, meaning I can finally talk about whatās going on to the specific audience who are interested in that side of my content. And while I canāt make any promises, having a dedicated StarCraft channel means I could actually consider coming back to make new guides without hurting my core content.
The change wonāt happen overnight. For the time being, Iāll be uploading new videos to both channels, to help people find their way to my new home. So if youāre here for my video essays and reviews, please check out my new channel here:

It really would mean a lot to me if youād support me there as well.
With all that said, I just want to say how deeply thankful I am to everyone whoās commented, liked, subscribed, or even just watched my videos in silence, ninja style. Whatever it was that brought you to my channel, Iām super grateful for your support. šš
Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day!
