And that's a wrap! 10 days under the stars in Kanab Utah, with 2 wonderful groups of students. I've been truly amazed at the data they've captured and processed. It's nice to see how far you can come in just 4 days with the proper gear, clear night skies, and some patience!

Surprisingly, all 8 students in both workshops had AM5 mounts. Not only did this make it much easier to capture data, everyone spent more time relaxing and enjoying themselves rather than getting frustrated at their star trackers.

One of the benefits of teaching these workshops is that I get lots of new tutorial ideas. Stay tuned, I should have 10+ tutorials coming in the following weeks here on YouTube! We'll talk about PixInsight, cables, data acquisition, post-processing, and more!

I've also re-enabled YouTube memberships, now that I'll be posting more regularly. If you'd like to join, you'll receive early access to the videos and even a bi-monthly "office hours" livestream where I answer your questions directly.

If you photographed the Annular Eclipse, I hope you got some great shots! This video was painstakingly aligned, frame by frame, with 350 images to create a smooth timelapse. I'll be sharing my post-processing workflow in an upcoming tutorial.

It's officially the start of Milky Way season! Thankfully we've got plenty of wide-open, dark, and clear skies now in Utah. Here's my very first Milky Way photo of the year.

For those who are on my Patreon, be sure to head over today and follow along with my full-length editing tutorial!

We finally had a clear night in Utah, at least for an hour, so I was able to capture my first narrowband image! This time I focused on the Rosette Nebula (which has given me so much trouble over the years!) I only captured about 10 minutes of Oxygen, 3 minutes of Sulfur, and 30 minutes of Hydrogen Alpha, yet the final image turned out pretty well!

I'll explain how I edited this photo, along with the narrowband process, on April 8th. Stay tuned!

I finally got a photo of the Horsehead Nebula that I like! If you want to learn how I created this image, the full post-processing video will go live here on April 1st. If you belong to my Patreon page, head over there later today to watch the full video!
