The very first thing that I recommend learning when getting into fingerpicking is finger selection - learn which finger plays each string.
When starting out, use your thumb (p) to play the 6th, 5th and 4th strings. Use your index (i) to play the 3rd string, your middle finger (m) to play the 2nd string and your ring finger (a) to play the 1st string.
Learn this, then practice the simple exercise shown here to cement everything into place. From there you can go on to start learning some fingerpicking patterns.
This is a great place to start and it will really help to lay strong foundations in your fingerpicking.
Keep on practising and don’t forget to subscribe to Six String Fingerpicking to take your playing to the next level.
