We've all experienced the exhaustion of mental fatigue. If you work long enough and hard enough on a cognitively demanding task, you'll eventually lose motivation and focus. Worse yet, burnout is right around the corner. In my most recent video, I dive deep into the neuroscience of mental fatigue and explain how you can prevent it. Check it out: https://youtu.be/GT8qV326V-8

Resilience is not just about how your brain withstands from adversity, but also how it becomes stronger as a result.

I just published a SUPER deep dive on the neuroscience of resilience and science based strategies for how to build resilience in your own life.

This was absolutely fascinating and, honestly, somewhat life changing for me to learn about.

Check out the video and have an amazing weekend!

Our brains are exceptional at mental time travel. We can mentally transport ourselves to the past by remembering what has already happened, but we can also do the reverse. We can imagine a future that has yet to occur.

In this Patreon-only video, we'll examine the neuroscience of both of these abilities and see that they ultimately rely on the same brain system. Later on, we'll look at the practical application of this idea: Our ability to imagine ourselves in the future can be very helpful in the present. The flow state is the ultimate form of engagement. When we're in a flow state, we can focus more deeply and be more productive--all while truly enjoying the moment. The neuroscience of flow states is a rapidly growing area and important neural correlates have been identified, but it currently lacks a fully coherent theory regarding how and why it arises.

In this Patreon-exclusive video, I'll delve into the current neuroscience regarding flow states and how to get more flow in your life. Sign up to get access: www.patreon.com/posts/patreon-flow-how-100617267

To form good habits and break bad ones, you have to rewire your brain’s dopamine system. In my latest video (see link below), I explain how to do that by talking about how you can create healthier habits around sleep. https://youtu.be/fEvPQapNnWA

Just dropped the second Patreon-Exclusive video. Here's the description:

The good life is wasted on those without gratitude.

Often, you’ll hear people talk about the importance of gratitude, of expressing thanks to those who have added to your life in some way or to fortuitous situations that landed you in the position you’re in. Without question, this is a valuable thing to do.

Yet, there is another, more abstract way of expressing gratitude. That is, we can be grateful not only for the past and present, but for the brighter future we will help to create.

I've got some exciting news:

Patreon supporters of Sense of Mind will now get access to exclusive videos at no extra charge!

These videos will NEVER be published in their entirety for the public.

I will occasionally post very short clips of these videos publicly on my channel, but again these videos (unlike the Patreon livestreams, which are published publicly after the live recording) are for Patrons only.

If you aren't yet a Patron, click the link below to sign up. You can now also get a 7-day free trial if you'd like to try before you buy.

Here's the description of the first Patreon-only video:

Making progress depends on maintaining momentum. One of the surest ways to destroy momentum is to mentally minimize the significance of your achievements while mentally maximizing the significance of your goals.
